Studium Generale: Forced Journey
Special theatre performance during lunchtime by Nachwan Alrajab Agha & other refugees
Since recently, Syrian refugee Nachwan Alrajab Agha lives on a boat on the IJsselkade in Deventer with over 100 other asylum seekers. With 10 of them, he has created a performance with the name Gedwongen Reis (Forced Journey). It is a refugee story based on Nachwan's experiences, but interchangeable with those of many other refugees. Nachwan is from the city of Homs. He fled the current Al-Assad regime. By profession, he is a civil engineer but with a great love for theatre. His experience as an actor in several plays is reflected in the expressiveness of this performance.
Forced Journey is textless, with lots of music and shows who Syrians are and, above all, why they came here. A story that should flow from head to heart and from person to person.
After the performance, there will be plenty of room for a Q&A led by moderator Britt Krabbe & Fawaz Ahmad (Saxion B1 student).
The performance is free and open to anyone who is interested, it is not possible to sign up. The aftertalk is in English. An Arabic-English interpreter is participating.
This is a lunchtime programme from 13h00 until 13h30
