dr. ir. Cas Damen | Lector Applied Nanotechnology

Cas Damen (1968) studied Applied Physics at the University of Twente, where he graduated in 1993 in the Rheology of latex suspensions. Subsequently, he completed his doctorate in the field of thin films of high-temperature superconductors under the supervision of Dr. Dave Blank and Prof. Horst Rogalla.

During one year after his PhD he worked at the University of Twente as a researcher in the field of Pulsed Laser Deposition. Damen is co-founder and CTO of Twente Solid State Technology BV (TSST), a company specialized in thin film deposition equipment used in nanotechnology research.

Damen is co-founder and CTO of Twente Solid State Technology Ltd (since 1998), a company specialized in equipment for thin film deposition used in nanotechnology research.

Since the founding of this company, Damen developed this company into a leading supplier for the scientific world. Through his work at TSST, Damen has been involved in nanotechnology research, i.a. through the national NanoNextNL programme and by participating in European research programs.

Since March 2014 Cas Damen is a parttime professor NanoPhysicsInterface at Saxion’s Nanotechnology chair.
