MySaxion Student App
Thanks to the new MySaxion Student App, you can now check your phone at any moment to see your current timetable and exam timetable. If a timetable changes, then you will receive a notification. Read on to see how to install the app and what you can expect of it.
This is the first step towards offering you a smartphone app that has all the information you could need during your studies. Download the app, available in the store now!
Studiewinkel.nl
You can order your textbooks for your studies at Saxion through Studiewinkel.nl. Order your entire book list or easily buy individual books with a 5% student discount.
The book list can be found via the link above or by using the steps below on the website of Studiewinkel.nl (in Dutch).
- Select Saxion in the search bar
- Then select the location of your course
- Select your study programme
- View the booklist
Of course you are free to order your textbooks through other channels and suppliers. Some books are also available second hand. Please make sure you order the correct version/ edition. We advise you to order the books for the first quarter now.
Not a First Year student?
The information on this webpage is aimed at First Year students only, which means that it is not applicable to exchange students and international students starting in the second, third or fourth (final) year.
Dress code during occasions
In the hospitality sector it is highly valuated to be dressed appropriately for the occasion. All first year Hotel Management students purchase a dark blue suit.
- Men’s clothing: the set consists of a dark blue suit, a white shirt and a tie.
- Women clothing: the set consists of a dark blue blazer and, optionally, a skirt or trousers and a white blouse.
The Hospitality Business School works with a preferred supplier, Kayser Clothing in Enschede, but of course you are free to purchase the same package elsewhere. At Kayser Clothing the amount for a set is approximately €325 - €350*.

You do not have to purchase any clothing yet. Kayser Clothing will organize a fitting session at Saxion Apeldoorn during the introduction week, at Wednesday the 28th of August. The distribution of the suits at Saxion will be planned in October 2024.
Please note: you can combine the suit with clean white sneakers. The tie (only for men) that you wear with the above clothing set is purchased by HBS. During the course you will receive a personal name badge that you need to wear on your clothing at different occasions.

Welcome at the Saxion Hospitality Business School!
After the summer you will start with the study Hotel Management at the Hospitality Business School (HBS).
Your study will start with an introduction programme, which is an important part of your study. The introduction programme will take place from Tuesday 27 August to Thursday 29 August 2024.
The introduction programme consists of:
- A introduction with Hospitality Business School and your own programme. At the start on Tuesday you will hear in which class you have been placed.
- An introduction to Saxion and Apeldoorn.
INTRO Hotel Management, explanation of the block schedule
- On Tuesday 27 August, we welcome you at Saxion in Apeldoorn at 13.00. This afternoon you will meet your class, fellow students and your study coach. We close the afternoon with all students with the Saxion BBQ Festival (included) and afterwards you can visit the INTRO party.
- On Wednesday 28 August, from 11.00 am, we continue the introductory meeting. We will go through the first week of classes (kick-off) with you. There will also be the opportunity to try on the suit (see 'dress code' under 'Book list and other learning resources'. In between, lunch will be served (included). The afternoon programme will be provided by the student associations Promaître (Hotel Management) and SMSP (Security Management). Afterwards, you can join the Pizza Party (included) at Saxion and the rest of the evening programme in downtown Apeldoorn!
Good to know
- You do not need to bring a laptop for the course introduction;
- There are no lockers in Apeldoorn to store valuables, so we advise you to leave them at home as much as possible;
