Wat kun je straks?
In this module, you learn how to get value out of data, for example for smart cities, digital twins and other digital developments. The module explores the data value chain, data gathering, data management, data analysis, and addresses topics like data governance, open data, data quality and data tools and techniques. Furthermore, you will gain understanding of the ethical implications of working with data. Upon completion of this module, you can analyse, visualise and interpret data in such a way that you can extract descriptive or predictive insight.
Inhoud
The module will be covered by 6 lectures with the following topics:
1. Exploring data
2. Capturing data and the data value chain
3. Data analysis
4. Data visualisation
5. Data in Facility and Real Estate
6. Spatial Data Science
First, you will be introduced in the world of data: data types, big data, metadata, open data and so on. Next, you will learn about systems of data capture, data intermediaries, and the data value chain.
After that, you will learn about data analysis methods. Then, you will dive into the world of data visualisation: classification, normalisation, semiology. Before having a deepdive into spatial data science you will learn about data in Facility and Real Estate Management. You may think of smart cities, digital twins, the synthesis with SDG’s, BREEAM, and WELL.
The module will be taught by a data science expert and will use real cases from several organisations. In addition, guest lectures of Saxion lectorates will add to the module. In this module theory and practice are combined to prepare you for a good start in data driven management within Facility and Real Estate.
Programma
The module is part of the Master Facility and Real Estate Management. The management of facilities, workplaces and real estate (assets) are increasingly converging. This calls for experts who work together to be able to place issues in a broad perspective, beyond the boundaries of their own discipline. You will gain an understanding of the complex strategic issues associated with the fields of asset, property and facility management. We prepare future professionals by means of hard and soft skills for these issues that require an integrated and interdisciplinary approach. Saxion, in partnership with the University of Greenwich, offers this unique master's programme. If, after completing the module, you decide to enter the Master Facility and Real Estate Management, you may be eligible for exemptions and a discount of €500 per completed module.
Afronding
You will be creating a storymap, present this by video, and assessed in a short oral exam.
When you pass the assessment you have finished the module.
