Wat kun je straks?
The module focuses on the knowledge and skills relevant to the management of building portfolios, with a specific focus on real estate and on strategic, sustainable and financial aspects.
This means you will learn to approach real estate in terms of strategy, sustainability and finance, to determine how to manage building portfolios. You will take into account trends, developments in the market as well as current societal and environmental issues. You will also use relevant evaluation models and tools.
Inhoud
The module will be covered by 6 lectures with the following topics:
1. Introduction to sustainable building and portfolio management
2. Sustainable building and portfolio management principles part 1
3. Sustainable building and portfolio management principles part 2
4. Market analysis
5. Portfolio appraisal
6. Decision making, asset management strategy and real estate strategy
First, you will be introduced in the world of sustainable building and portfolio management, as well as its role, principles and best practice. Then, two lectures will follow in which you will deepdive into the subject from strategic, sustainable and financial aspects. After the deepdive you will take a look at the market and the outside world. Next, you will learn to appraise a portfolio taking into consideration account trends, developments in the market as well as current societal and environmental issues.
Finally, you will learn to use relevant evaluation models and tools. As such, the module includes the analysis of market data in relation to sustainable building and portfolio management. It combines theory with practice as well as intervention of guest lecturers from the industry. It contains two formative assignments throughout the module to prepare you for the final assessment.
Programma
The module is part of the Master Facility and Real Estate Management. The management of facilities, workplaces and real estate (assets) are increasingly converging. This calls for experts who work together to be able to place issues in a broad perspective, beyond the boundaries of their own discipline. You will gain an understanding of the complex strategic issues associated with the fields of asset, property and facility management. We prepare future professionals by means of hard and soft skills for these issues that require an integrated and interdisciplinary approach. Saxion, in partnership with the University of Greenwich, offers this unique master's programme. If, after completing the module, you decide to enter the Master Facility and Real Estate Management, you may be eligible for exemptions and a discount of €500 per completed module.
Afronding
You will be crafting an appraisal and strategy report and presenting an advice on sustainable building and portfolio management. When you pass the assessment you have finished the module.

Cost:
The cost for participation in this course is €1,500, including associated assessment(s). This amount does not include the costs for literature and other study materials to be purchased. In the event of a resit for either test, there is a charge of € 150 per additional test opportunity.
If, after completing the course, you decide to enter the Master's in Facility and Real Estate Management (MSc), you may be eligible for exemptions and a discount per completed module.

In possession of a Bachelor's degree:
To be admitted, you must hold a bachelor's degree in Facility or Real Estate Management, or a bachelor's degree in a related field such as Engineering, Construction, Hotel Management, or a similar field.
