Do you want to make a difference with smart engineering solutions and innovations? The Mechanical Engineering (ME) programme will teach you everything you need to know about the design, analysis, manufacture and technical improvement of products, machines, and structures. As a mechanical engineer, you will be challenged to develop innovative technologies and processes that minimise environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Design, sustainable energy, and industrial automation
The Mechanical Engineering programme works closely with the Saxion research groups Lightweight Construction, Sustainable Energy and Mechatronics. During your studies you can choose to specialise in one of these areas.
Group work with Smart Solutions
During the Smart Solutions semester, you will work together with students from other Saxion programmes on assignments in companies in the industry. You will gain knowledge of other (technical) disciplines and learn a lot about communication and cooperation.

During your study programme
You will learn everything you need to know about the design, manufacture and technical improvement of products, machines, and structures. You will take courses in communication, project management and research. By creating concepts of your design, you will achieve a complete and final design of your product. You will use software such as SolidWorks, C++, and Matlab.

After graduation
Mechanical engineers are needed in a wide range of industries. For example, in design and manufacturing companies, but also in engineering and consultancy firms. Other sectors include sustainable energy, medical product development and process automation. They design and build production machinery, transport systems and vehicles such as cars and motorcycles.
